The Call
When you get “the call” for an interview, you should ask the following information:
Time and location of interview. Who will I be meeting with? What is the person’s job title. What type of interview (1 to 1 or panel)


Reduce the Stress
Go to the location of the interview the day before Note the time it took you to get there Look for the closest bus stop Lay out your clothes the night before the interview

Questions to ask the Interviewer
Can you tell me more about…..? Do you have any training programs? Can you describe them? What would my schedule be like? How has this position become available?


During the Interview
Use positive statements, “I can, I will, I do” Use eye contact (p11) 2/Facial Expressions (p12) Be aware of your body language (Posture and gesture)(p13-14) Provide interviewer with your references

You only get one chance to make a first impression, so make it professional. 1/Eye Contact while listening, If you happen to look away, it displays to the interviewer a lack of interest and a short attention span. while speaking, If you do not maintain eye contact, it shows a lack of confidence in what you are saying.


During the Interview
2/Facial Expressions Facial expressions are very important. such as a smile It can tell the interviewer that you are a happy person and delighted to be interviewed by the company.


3/Posture Posture sends out a signal of your confidence When you are standing, stand up straight. When you are seated, sit at the front edge of the chair, leaning forward slightly.


4/Gestures Gestures should be very limited during an interview.

5/Space – Recognize the boundaries of your personal space and that of others.


Some “Dos”

Do plan to arrive on time or a few minutes early, not too early and NEVER late – 10 minutes early is acceptable Do wait until you are offered a chair before sitting. Sit upright, and interested at all times. Be a good listener as well as a good communicator. Do show enthusiasm. If you are interested in the opportunity, enthusiastic feedback can enhance your chances of being further considered.


Some “Don’ts”
Don’t forget to bring a copy of your resume!
Keep several copies in your briefcase if you are afraid you will forget.

Don’t smoke,
even if the interviewer does and offers you a cigarette.

Don’t answer with a simple “yes” or “no”. Don’t lie.
Answer questions truthfully and frankly.


Some “Don’ts”
Don’t over-answer questions.
if the interviewer steers the conversation into politics or controversial issues, try to do more listening than speaking since this could be a sensitive situation.

Don’t inquire about salary, vacations, bonuses, retirement, etc., on the initial interview
unless you are sure the employer is interested in hiring you.


Bad behaviors

a. Improper clothing b. Lack of eye contact and speak in low voice c. Bad sitting posture. d. Self-praise or boast e. Speak very fast

f. Smoke g. Being late and make up excuses. h. Over making-up i. Nervous and hesitate to answer the questions j. Improper body languages

1. What do you think is your biggest strength?

Answered Tip: You could say ,“Cool, calm and clear, stand firm, helpful and caring, sense of humor, optimism and friendliness. Plus practice, so I fit the job. I believe I can succeed !”

You could say,“My greatest strength is my , commitment to work. I strive [straiv] for excellence and always try to do my best.”


2. Talk about your greatest weakness?
"My biggest weakness is a perfectionist."

My greatest weakness is that I value leisure time spent with my family and therefore I treasure(珍 ( 爱、珍藏) my weekends and free time in the 珍藏) evenings.


3. Your views on overtime?
Reply Note: Many companies actually ask this question, does not prove that we must work overtime, just would like to test you willing to sacrifice([‘s?krifais] 贡献)for the ( company. Sample answer:

If it is necessary I will be duty-bound to work overtime. However, I will improve efficiency, reduce unnecessary overtime.


4. Talk about the salary requirements
sample : I believe that your company will deal with my friendly and reasonable issue. What I pay attention to is finding opportunities to work, so long as the conditions are fair, I do not mind too much.


5. How much do you know about our company?
Sample:(应征计算机零件物流方面的工作 ) ( I’ve read the annual reports of your company of the past three years, and I have come to realize that your company enjoys leadership in domestic distribution of computer parts. I believe that my management experience will be an asset(资产) to your company.


6. Talk about your views on the quit 跳槽?
Replied that: (1)

Normal "quit" to encourage the rational talent flow (人才流动), should be supported; 人才流动),


Frequently change jobs on both units and individual, this is disadvantage, should be opposed.


7. Why do you think we should employ you? Sample:(应征机械工程的工作) 应征机械工程的工作) I am suitable for the position, not only because I have a degree in mechanical engineering, but also because I have worked in this field for more than two years. I believe that my experience can be put to use in further developing your business.


8. What are your goals for the future? Where do you see yourself in five years?
Don't discuss your goals for returning to school or having a family, they are not relevant and could knock you out of contention for the job. Rather, you want to connect your answer to the job you are applying for.


9. How do you handle pressure?
I actually work better under pressure and I've found that I enjoy working in a challenging environment. From a personal perspective, I manage stress by visiting the gym every evening. It's a great stress reducer. Stress is very important to me. With stress, I can do the job better. I believe that no stress, no motivation. I need stress to stay motivated and productive.

A: I take more than 20 courses in university, including microeconomics, business correspondence, business etiquette and E-Commerce, etc. I: How did you get on with your studies in college? A: I did well in college. I was one of the top students in the class. I: What subject did you minor in? A: I didn’t minor in any subject when I was in college, but I attended English and computer courses. And I am currently studying economics in a training school.

I won't leave as long as I have opportunity to apply my knowledge and get on well with my superiors and colleagues. I: What's your future plans and what kind of expectations do you have of the company? A: I know that generally it is possible to move from this position to a management position with two years experience in the company and I would look forward to having the responsibility for training and supervising new members of staff. I: What is your typical workday like at your present job? A: I arrive at 8 o'clock every morning, and I make a list of things I must do that day. I: What then? A: Then I start work on my list.
