Baseball: Teaching objectives: Knowledge aim: Students can generally get to know when the three kinds of modern ball games come

into being. Ability aim: 1.Students can grasp the two kinds of reading skills. 2.Enhance students’ ability of cooperation. Moral aim: 1.Develop students interests of language learning. 2.Enhance culture conscience for students. Teaching focus: By using interesting pictures and reasonable teaching methods,let them be happy to be a part of the class. Teaching difficulties:The English levels of each student is different. Teaching aids: Multi-media. Teaching methods: Tasked-based language teaching; CLT; Direct method. Teaching procedures: Step1: Lead-in (5 mins): To display many kinds of sports’ game on

the PPT that they are interested in and let them recognize. Step2: Skimming (5 mins) Tell the students what is skimming,and let them skim the passage. Step3: Scanning (12 mins) Ask one student whether he can know what is scanning by comparing skimming,and display exercises on the PPT to ask them scan the passage and do exercises. Step4:Group Work: (8 mins) Divide the whole class into two groups,and then choose two students on behalf of each group,let them talk about two questions: 1.What’s your favorite sport? 2.Why do you like it? Step5:Conclusion:(10 mins) 1.Conclude two reading skills: Skimming and Scanning. 2.Ask one student to sum up the origin of the three ball games.

Assignment:(5 mins) 1.Tell them to understand and use skimming and scanning when need it. 2.Encourage them to find more sports’ games they are amused at,and talk about the next class! Blackboard design: Module1 Basketball
