英语教学的根本目的是培养学生使用英语进行成功的语言交流。 语言是文化 不可分割的一部分。 当代美国语言学家克拉姆斯基说： 语言教学就是文化教学” “ 。 英语教学如果脱离了文化教学， 就失去了其应有的意义。当前各种文化共同交织 作用下的国际形势也要求我们必须具备跨文化交际的能力。 然而当前的高中英语 教学， 由于受到高考指挥棒的影响，大部分高中英语教学所体现出的依然是传统 的“重知识轻能力”的培养模式。教师和学生都侧重于语音，词汇，语法知识的 掌握， 而忽视了跨文化交际意识与能力的培养。这与英语课程标准的要求是相悖 的，也不符合新形势下对外语人才培养的要求。笔者曾经在南京外国语学校，南 京一中等学校进行了实习， 发现高中生的跨文化交际意识仍然十分欠缺，运用所 学的语言和知识进行跨文化交际的能力依然有待提高。 高中英语教学不仅要重视 语言知识的掌握， 更应该加大跨文化交际意识与能力培养的力度，提高学生的文 化意识， 培养具备跨文化交际能力的人。本论文针对当前中学英语教学中存在的 忽视文化教学等问题,从语言、文化、教学的角度出发，通过自身教学实践与思 考,结合新课程标准提出的在中学英语教学中,重视跨文化交际意识培养的必要性 的要求， 探讨如何在英语教学中培养学生跨文化交际意识和能力的可行途径与方 法。
The basic purpose of English teaching is to educate students to communicate with others in English successfully. And language is an indivisible part of culture. Present American linguist Kramsky said: Language teaching is culture teaching. English teaching loses the meaning of its own, if separated from culture teaching. We are asked to own ability of cross-cultural communication by present international situation strongly influenced www.wmlunwen.com by multi-culture. However, current teaching of high schools is still ruled by entrance examination. So the English teaching of most high schools all reflect the same traditional developing mode, that is caring more about knowledge rather than ability. Teachers and students all focus on the command of phonetics, vocabulary and grammar, but overlook the development of ability in cross-cultural communication, which is just opposite to the requirement of English curriculum standard. While the author had her teaching practice in Nanjing Foreign Language School, Nanjing No 1 Middle School and so on, she found there was distinct shortage of the ability in cross-cultural communication among students. The English teaching of high schools should not only emphasize the command of
language knowledge, but also intensify the development of awareness and ability in cross-cultural communication, promote students’ cultural awareness and cultivate talents armed with ability in cross-cultural communication. So this paper, aimed at the teaching problems in high schools like ignorance of culture teaching and so on, is to emphasize the necessity and importance of developing students’ cross-cultural awareness in English teaching of high schools based on the author’s own teaching experience and reflection, from various angles ranging from language, culture to teaching. It also offers wise suggestions and feasible approaches to raising students’ cross-cultural awareness and ability.
